Unfortunately, it seems that load-shedding is not going away anytime soon and so many Small Businesses are being affected by it. That is why we thought of coming up with some creative ways of beating Loadshedding.
Cafes/Restaurants
Create load-shedding specials, that start 1 or 2 hours before the Loaddshedding schedule, to maximize traffic and therefore make up for potential losses.
Have a reduced menu for load-shedding hours. Create unique menu items, that are easy to put together.
Invest in an E-bike and be open to making local deliveries. Prepare orders before load shedding hits, so that it’s still fresh for deliveries.
Beauty Industry or anything similar – Maximize workstations and instead of having different working shifts, schedule all staff and clients based on load shedding schedule.
Beauty Industry/ Similar
If you have a small store and can only accept cash during load-shedding create a small online store and add the Qr code to your bank account. Not only does this have the potential of introducing your business to a wider audience, but you can deliver the items locally if possible and clients can pay by scanning the code.
Consultants/ Freelancers
There is a coffee shop available with free wifi on every corner. It is very possible to build up your business or clientele working at a coffee shop. Not only do save money by renting an office space but it’s possible to experience a new environment every day!
